João de Medeiros & Pamela Leite
Wedding photography in Porto and the north of Portugal. João photographs and edits; Pamela looks after every couple.
Background
Before photography I went through painting, theatre and music. I studied at the Porto Jazz School, where I played trumpet.
At Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESAP) I completed a bachelor’s degree in Photography and a degree in Fine Arts – Painting. I then took the specialisation course Intervenções Artísticas em Espaços Públicos e Produção de Obras Site Specific (artistic interventions in public space and the production of site-specific work) at Universidade Lusófona do Porto, with guests such as Joana Vasconcelos and Miguel von Hafe Pérez, among others. The course ended with artistic interventions in public spaces in Porto.
Later I completed a master’s in Visual Arts Education at the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto.
How I work
At a wedding I don’t direct or ask for poses. I follow the day as a guest and photograph what happens. I am always the one who photographs, and I edit every photograph myself.
Artistic practice
I keep a personal, independent artistic practice. I have taken part in group exhibitions at Galeria Olga Santos and ESAP, and I collaborate with cultural institutions and companies.
Artistic interventions: É Favor Pisar as Flores, 12 Horas no Coração da Cidade and Agostinho Ricca – Olhar a Arquitectura.

Pamela
Pamela Leite looks after couples from the first message: she replies, answers questions, organises and stays with them until the photographs are delivered. She does so even when the date is already taken or when the wedding ends up being photographed by someone else.
