“A photograph is what it appears to be. Already far from ‘reality’ because of its silence, lack of movement, two-dimensionality and isolation from everything outside the rectangle, it can create another reality, an emotion that did not exist in the ‘true’ situation. It’s the tension between these two realities that lends it strength.”
– Richard Kalvar
Getting ready for tomorrows wedding. It’s essential to be prepared for the whole day and expect the unexpected or the worst. During the day I can relax that during the week I thought of every possible scenario so I can just absorb the energy of the day, enjoy it’s emotions and try to reflect what I see through the dimensional limits of a photograph. Working from 11 am to 3-4am is a challenge every time I have to document a Portuguese wedding, but it’s in our culture and we party hard like few other cultures in Europe. It’s already part of my routine to be surrounded by hundreds of guests, family and friends of the couple that trust my vision and supported my work. The rest is just Photography.
